What belongs on Garbage

Garbage is a feed for photographs of actual trash. The best posts show garbage in the wild: litter on the sidewalk, overflowing bins, dumpster finds, garbage cans, bags waiting for pickup, and other inanimate refuse.

What does not belong

To keep the community focused and safe, we do not allow content that includes:

  • Humans, human faces, body parts, or silhouettes that are identifiable as people;
  • Animals or content depicting animal cruelty;
  • AI-generated, AI-enhanced, or otherwise synthetic imagery — every post must be a real photograph of real garbage;
  • Illegal, violent, threatening, or harassing content;
  • Hate speech, explicit content, or graphic imagery;
  • Spam, scams, or commercial promotions unrelated to the App.

Garbage is a no-AI community. Synthetic or AI-generated images are removed on sight, and repeat offenders may be suspended. Moderation is handled by the community and our team.

Reporting

Every post has a "Report" button. If you see something that is not garbage — especially a human or animal — tap it and choose a reason. Reports are anonymous to other users. The post may be hidden automatically while it is reviewed.

Moderation process

When a post is reported, it is flagged for review. Posts that violate our rules may be removed from the feed and the poster may be warned or suspended. We aim to review reports quickly, but response times may vary.

Enforcement

Violations can lead to content removal, temporary suspension, or permanent account termination. We may also remove posts automatically if they receive a high volume of reports, pending review.

Appeals

If you believe your content was removed by mistake, contact us at contact@thegarbageapp.com. Include a link to the post and a brief explanation.
