Operator

Garbage is operated by Smorgasbord LLC, a Wisconsin limited liability company. References to "we," "us," or "the operator" in these Terms mean Smorgasbord LLC.

1. Agreement

By accessing or using Garbage (the "App"), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the App. This page is maintained by Smorgasbord LLC, the operator of Garbage, to explain the terms that apply to using the app; it is not legal advice.

2. Eligibility

There is no minimum age to use the App. If you are below the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you may use the App only with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian. By using the App, you represent that you meet these requirements.

3. Your account

You can sign in using Google authentication. You are responsible for keeping your account secure and for all activity that occurs under your account. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or our Trust & Safety rules.

4. Content rules

Garbage is for photographs of actual garbage and trash only — litter on the ground, overflowing bins, dumpster finds, and the like. You may not post content that includes:

• Humans, human faces, or body parts;
• Animals or animal cruelty;
• AI-generated, AI-enhanced, or otherwise synthetic imagery — posts must be real photographs of real garbage;
• Illegal, threatening, harassing, or hateful content;
• Spam, scams, or commercial advertisements unrelated to the App.

5. License you grant us

You keep ownership of the content you post. By posting on Garbage, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to host, display, and distribute your content on the App for the purpose of operating the service. This license ends when you delete your content or your account, except where other users have already engaged with it (e.g., comments, which may remain with attribution removed).

6. Prohibited conduct

You may not use the App to abuse other users, evade moderation, scrape data, interfere with the service's infrastructure, or violate any applicable law.

7. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access at any time for violations of these Terms or for operational reasons. You may delete your account at any time by contacting us at contact@thegarbageapp.com.

8. Disclaimers

The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not responsible for the accuracy of user-generated content or for any loss resulting from your use of the App.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wisconsin, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
